We hear it all the time. “You mean you can have a Montessori high school education?”
The answer is a resounding, “YES!”
At Providence Montessori, students in grades 6 – 8 , traditionally middle school, is called Middle Academy and the traditional high school years – grades 9 – 12 are called Master Academy. Our goal is to prepare students for more than school success; we aim to help them to thrive in life after formal education. We teach curiosity and learning skills, as opposed to teaching information.
Curriculum for Middle and Master Academy students is completely tailored to the individual child, using hands-on learning, real life field experiences, community service, networking, portfolio building, and opportunities in entrepreneurship. We have high expectations for our students, and we teach teamwork and interpersonal interactions, helping them learn that it is just as important to follow as to lead.
That looks great on paper, but it looks even better in real life!

Most of us think of high school as locker lined hallways with a variety of teachers throughout the four years of learning a lot of information that may or may not be retained after graduationAt Providence, the experience is different.
Each student in the Master Academy has a completely custom curriculum, tailored to the individual. We encourage dual enrollment in colleges and graduating with as many college credits as possible. Some are even able to earn an associate degree along with their high school diploma!
The Montessori method of high school does not ‘change classes’. We don’t divide the subjects into separate and isolated disciplines. Our learning is intentionally intertwined. You’ll find this helps our students to have a strong proficiency in the traditional subjects such as language arts, science and math, history, and electives. We don’t separate by grades, so concepts in one subject can be totally mastered before advancing to the next level. Our curriculum also incorporates the personal interests and passions of the students, allowing them to pursue their own projects and research.
Of course the best way to learn about our Master Academy is to come and take a look. We’d love to talk to you about how your high school student can benefit from what we have to offer, and how we at Providence can benefit from what your child will bring to us!
