Did you know “Mardi Gras” is French for Fat Tuesday. It’s the last day before Lent, when all the sugar and fat was eaten and Carnival and masks and parties were had, before the time of quiet reflection and self-sacrifice of Lent season. We also learned that When eating the King’s Cake, the one who finds the “baby” in the cake has good luck. We learned the colors of Mardi Gras in French, yellow, purple and green (jaune, violet, and vert) and practiced our French introductions…. Thanks Ms. Jessica Kelly for the wonderful lesson.
